The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints

The First Presidency has released the locations and site maps for three new temples — Cleveland Ohio Temple, the Austin Texas Temple and the Santiago West Chile Temple.

The location maps were published Monday, Dec. 19, on ChurchofJesusChrist.org, along with the release of exterior renderings for four additional temples — two in Asia and two in the United States.

Detailed design plans for each temple are still being developed. Further information — including exterior renderings and groundbreaking dates — will be announced later.

Cleveland Ohio Temple

Projected to be a single-story building of approximately 9,900 square feet, the Cleveland Ohio Temple will be built at Brecksville Road, south of Longano Drive, in Independence, Cuyahoga County, Ohio.

President Russell M. Nelson announced a temple for Cleveland in April 2022 general conference.

Ohio is home to more than 63,000 Church members in more than 120 congregations. The temple in Cleveland will be the state’s second operating temple; the Columbus Ohio Temple is under renovation and scheduled to be rededicated on June 4, 2023.

The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints built its first temple in Kirtland; it is owned today by the Community of Christ.

Austin Texas Temple

The Austin Texas Temple is to be built on a 10.6-acre site adjacent to an existing meetinghouse at 1801 E. Park St., Cedar Park, Texas. It is planned as a single-story temple of approximately 30,000 square feet.

President Nelson announced a temple for Austin in April 2022 general conference. It will be one of eight temples in Texas — temples in Dallas, San Antonio, Houston and Lubbock are in operation, the one in McAllen is under construction, and the Austin Texas joins the Fort Worth and Prosper temples in the planning stages.

More than 370,000 Latter-day Saints live in Texas, comprising over 730 congregations.

Santiago West Chile Temple

The Santiago West Chile Temple — planned as a single-story building of approximately 12,500 square feet — will be built at Primo de Rivera 1551, Comuna de Maipu, Santiago, Chile.

President Nelson announced the temple — the South American country’s fourth and the second in the capital city — during October 2021 general conference, one of 13 temples identified that day.

The nation’s first house of the Lord — the Santiago Chile Temple — was dedicated in September 1983, followed by the Concepción Chile Temple in October 2018. The Antofagasta Temple is currently under construction following its November 2020 groundbreaking.

More than 600,000 Latter-day Saints comprise more than 560 congregations in Chile.
