Adassa said it’s a blessing for her to sing with The Tabernacle Choir at Temple Square and the Orchestra at Temple Square as a guest artist during the recent tour to Mexico City, Mexico, and for the 2023 Summer Concert.
“It’s a blessing to be able to be here and to experience the wonder of hearing multiple voices combining as one, because that’s what you get when you’re listening to the choir,” she said during media interviews in advance of the concerts July 14-15 in the Conference Center. The concert was be streamed July 15 on the choir’s YouTube channels in English and Spanish and will be available on-demand for a limited time.
In this Church News video titled “Summer Concert 2023: Music of Hope,” both guest artists Adassa and Alex Melecio discuss the concert and how they feel singing with the choir and orchestra.
“The theme of the concert is hope,” Melecio said. It “might sound simple, but I want people to walk away feeling more hopeful in themselves, in their families and in their beliefs.”
And the concert isn’t just celebrating Pioneer Day, which is the anniversary of the first pioneers of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints reaching the Salt Lake Valley in July 1847.
The concert is “also celebrating the culture of Latinos and being able to share of those gifts,” Adassa said. “And to hear the choir singing in Spanish is an experience in itself. So, it’s just wonderful.”
